Our Core Purpose

At Welburn Hall, we support and encourage achievement and celebrate success.

We provide a safe, caring and stimulating environment in which pupils and students can prepare for the responsibilities of life.

Welburn Hall is a happy pace, and everyone is valued and respected as an individual.

Welburn Hall Joins the Olympic Countdown. . .

Welburn Hall started its Olympic challenge last term.  We divided all pupils and staff into teams to represent a different country.  Each team then made an Olympic torch and their country’s flag. Our first Olympic sporting event was the 'Marathon' on the last day of term. We started by walking the course in our Country groups led by our flags and torches. Each of our pupils (and most of the staff!) ran around the course through the school grounds representing their country.  They were cheered on by lots of parents and friends who soon got into the spirit of the games. The winning team was Italy and so their national anthem was played in the final assembly.

During this summer term we are staging our own Olympic Swimming Gala, Olympic Athletics and Decathlon events. We are also lucky enough to also be taking part in a range of Olympic themed Sports Partnership events - with Welburn representing Mexico.  Additional points are being awarded for extra effort, and so we are really getting into the Mexican theme!  We thank the local Mexican restaurant for the loan of their Sombreros!  We particularly liked having a go at Boccia - a target ball Paralympic sport.

We are looking forward to going to watch the Olympic Torch travel through Pickering on the 18th June.

We are excited to have been invited to Lady Lumley’s School for the day on the 6th July to join with them in a Paralympics event.

Learning for Living

The development of practical everyday life skills is an essential part of learning to be independent, feeling confident in the community and helps to increase self-esteem. Read about why our Life Skills Programme is increasingly popular with parents and pupils.

Home and School Liaison

At Welburn Hall, we greatly value a strong relationship with parents and carers.  This helps us provide the very best individualised care and education.  Read about how our Home School Liaison Co-ordinator supports pupils and their families.
